Growth in fat pad was measured as the length of spread between lymph nodes in millimeters; bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) labeling index was expressed as the percentage cells positive; caspase-3 activity was determined as A405. Results are means ± SEM for three or four observations. Student's t-test was performed to compare values between the 3 ppm Se and 0.1 ppm Se groups for each parameter. aP < 0.05; bP < 0.0001.
