Lymphocyte subtypes show differential depletion and recovery after chemotherapy. Absolute numbers of the lymphocyte subgroups shown were determined by multi-parameter flow cytometry on peripheral blood samples taken from 88 breast cancer patients either before chemotherapy (pre) or at various time-points after the end of chemotherapy (2 weeks [2w]; 3, 6 or 9 months [3m, 6m, 9m]). Data are shown as absolute counts (a) or relative to the matched pre-chemotherapy level (b). Boxes represent 50 % of the data, with medians (lines), interquartile ranges (whiskers) and individual outliers (circles). * p < 0.001 (shown for selected comparisons only); ns ‘not significant’
