The human MaSC/basal population is enriched for primate-specific miRNAs. Primate-specific miRNAs are expressed at higher levels in the human MaSC/basal subset (MS) relative to luminal and stromal cells. a The primate-specific chromosome-19 miRNA cluster (C19MC) is located at 19q13.4, flanked by the DPRX and NLRP2 genes.
